I LOVE That Name! How Did You Come Up with MojoWriting?
Seriously, there is NO greater compliment, aside from being a badass online marketing vortex of awesome, than complimenting the MojoWriting name.
Back when blogging was really gaining steam as a career, I took the plunge and decided that it was finally time to jump back into the world of online marketing. I had been writing forever, I had enough experience with web design, graphic design, and SEO to embark on a freelance journey.
As I sat in front of my computer, building a new website, I kept to the basic advice on branding – making a name is all about the image you want to portray. Who are you, what do you want to do, where do you see yourself going in the years to come?
Actually, I sat there, saving different graphics and illustrations that spoke to my hippie nature, listening to music and using a domain name generator. Nothing worked together. I wanted zen and magic, something that was me. The name I had used previously was no longer part of my branding. WHO WAS I NOW?
Then… Jim Morrison came to me. Quite literally, “L.A. Woman” began to play on the radio. No, I’m not from L.A., but who doesn’t LOVE that song? Mr. Mojo Risin.
That’s how MojoWriting was born.
So, the other WHY? Why MojoWriting?
I have had my hands in online marketing since Al Gore invented the Internet. I get the do’s and don’ts, the risks… where to spend money and where to save it for a different campaign, strategy, or, well, nachos. So much about online marketing is intuitive, it should be fun and not a hassle. That’s why you need MojoWriting; to make online marketing the kind of magic your business or organization needs… your voice on the web.
